Since its inception more than five years ago, Blue Diamond Resorts has grown to manage more than 30 properties in the Caribbean while welcoming guests to several brand-new hotels: Royalton St. Lucia, Royalton Negril, Hideaway at Royalton Negril and Royalton Blue Waters in Trelawny, Montego Bay, Jamaica.
Royalton Blue Waters adjoins the well-established Royalton White Sands on White Bay. The new hotel and resort opened in November and is an example of Blue Diamond Resorts’ growing presence in the Caribbean and beyond.
According to Jordi Pelfort, managing director for Blue Diamond Resorts, Royalton Blue Waters’ most compelling features are an aesthetically constructed beach — which he described as “one of the best on the island” — and the hotel’s lazy river.
“The lazy river is the first at Royalton,” he said. “There’s nothing else like it in Jamaica.”
Royalton Blue Waters’ 200-plus units include two dozen ground-level swim-out suites, close to 150 junior suites, seven Presidential suites and a massive, penthouse-level Chairman’s suite. More than 50 of the resort’s units are reserved for guests of its Diamond Club program. The pricier program comes with a variety of other perks, including personalized check-in, butler service, a separate beach with its own bar and a VIP lounge.
Tech-lovers will enjoy the hotel’s trademark “All-In Connectivity” initiative, which includes complimentary long distance calls to the United States as well as high-speed Wi-Fi access across the resort. All rooms are equipped with Bluetooth audio stations and USB charging outlets. Royalton even has its own app, which enables guests to make free calls from their own mobile phones while on the property.
But families will want to leave their smartphones behind in order to take advantage of the Kids’ Adventures program, which offers a variety of entertainment in the form of games, activities, a play area and a waterpark. Daily resort activities are listed on the interactive television system, which carries a range of premium and international channels, along with a 24-hour in-room dining menu. Diamond Club guests have access to special menu items, as well as the hotel’s DreamBeds and even a 24/7 pillow menu with a choice from supportive, cooling, micro-down and universal pillows.
At night, soft lights illuminate Royalton Blue Waters’ modernist facade, while the swim-up bar, poolside cabanas and refreshing signature welcome cocktail of coconut rum, Sprite and blue Curacao keep visitors sufficiently relaxed during the day. For even more tranquility, the hotel’s Royal Spa offers a range of soothing, purifying and after-sun facials, along with body treatments, massages and signature experiences such as the Royal Lotus Wrap and Thai-inspired Royal Samunprai Massage. Those seeking beauty services for weddings and other special parties will find it at the spa, as well.
Royalton Blue Waters has no shortage of dining options, either. From an authentic steakhouse, international buffet, patisserie and gastropub to restaurants offering West Indian cuisine, Tex-Mex fare, Italian food, Mediterranean meals and teppanyaki, there’s truly something for just about every taste palate at one of Royalton’s 11 restaurants.
Other superb features at Royalton Blue Waters include striking, stand-alone bathtubs and ocean views from every room. But in the end, perhaps the property’s most valuable asset is an easygoing, laid-back vibe that is in line with Jamaica’s reputation as the "Home of All Right.”
