Kenneth Shapiro was born and raised in Los Angeles. He got his BA from UCLA and a master’s from Columbia University. For more than 10 years, he worked for consumer magazines and book publishers in New York City. After moving back to Los Angeles, he became Destinations Editor at TravelAge West, followed by Editor-in-Chief and eventually Vice President, Publisher/Editor-in-Chief.
Under his guidance, TravelAge West has received numerous national and international editorial and design awards. Shapiro is a member of the Society of American Travel Writers (SATW) and has won writing awards from a several organizations, including SATW and the North American Travel Journalists Association (NATJA).
He lives with his wife and their two children in Hollywood.
