They say perfection has no limit. Words couldn’t ring truer when describing the extensive renovations and much-anticipated reopening of Qatar’s Four Seasons Hotel Doha, the lavish five-star resort whose esteemed reputation has been rightly earned for the past 14 years.
However, the recent redesign by world-renowned French interior designer Pierre-Yves Rochon — who is known for designing luxury properties such as Shangri-La Hotel, Paris — has elevated Four Seasons Doha to an unmatched level. And that’s even by Doha standards — an Arabian metropolis where extravagance already thrives.
The hotel’s grandiose exterior has always afforded double-takes by passersby. Of course, a design intentionally inspired by the architecture of Spain’s Alhambra palace isn’t striving to maintain a low profile. In this latest redesign, the entrance is further enhanced with a striking door, reminiscent of grande dame entrances, to welcome guests.
The renovated lobby now boasts a more airy feel, as it was redesigned with an open-space plan to radiate natural light and views of the captivating Arabian Gulf. Reflective of the Four Seasons brand’s sharp attention to detail, the lobby’s decorations include bespoke Italian furnishings and a striking handblown glass chandelier adorning the ceiling.
And yet, the hotel’s multitude of renovations hardly stop there. Four Seasons Doha’s reopening unveils redesigned guest floor plans, dining areas, bedrooms and suites.
The designer’s intention in color choices proves pivotal in the redesign process. The hotel’s public areas have adopted a melange of verdant hues, meant to pay homage to the vibrancy of life.
In contrast, the hotel’s private areas draw inspiration from the subtler palette of Qatar’s natural hues. For a metropolis bursting with excess lavishness, Qatar still maintains a natural splendor, where the brilliant skies and sea elegantly complement the stark beige of the dunes. This soothing color combination is woven throughout the private accommodations, as well. The hotel’s bedrooms will continue to pay homage to Qatari heritage with details such as mother-of-pearl inlay on decorative features.
Although Four Seasons Doha is dedicated to its world-renowned pedigree, the rooms exemplify forward-thinking modernity with energy-efficient, state-of-the-art technology such as automated curtains and newly installed windows that feature built-in temperature-management preservation technology.
Epicurean clients will delight at the options of the refurbished hotel, which continues to offer a tantalizing mix of contemporary and traditional fare. The long-cherished coffee and dessert bar, Arabica Cafe, has reemerged with a modern look. Coffee connoisseurs can indulge in curated coffee selections, as the bar specializes in single-origin beans. Seasons Tea Lounge, which momentarily transports guests to the amorous streets of Paris with a carefully crafted French menu and tableside service, has also been refurbished. The property’s reopening additionally introduces The Study, an outdoor bar and lounge designed as a space of reflection and peace, channeling the calmness of the sea.
Four Seasons Doha is optimally situated, perched on the sparkling Arabian Sea. The location, combined with superior services and hospitality, has served both Qatari and international guests since its inception.
The coming year will reveal further announcements for the property, including gastronomic developments and a relaunch with a brand-new concept by a celebrated Michelin-starred chef.
