In the days of planes, trains and automobiles, it’s rare to resort to a four-legged mode of transportation out of necessity.
Fortunately, there are magnificent exceptions. After a star-filled night in a desert camp on a tour of Morocco with Intrepid Travel, a pre-dawn camel ride across the Erg Chebbi sand dunes brought my travel group to a high enough vantage point to witness the sunrise over the Sahara Desert.
I hoofed on my own two feet for part of the journey so I could position myself at a low angle and catch the riders and their dromedaries silhouetted by the emerging daylight.
