Virgin Voyages’ fourth ship has been long delayed, but the brand recently announced that Brilliant Lady will launch in September 2025 from New York City.
Editor’s Note: We will continue to update this preview page as new information is released.
“Virgin Voyages started as a simple idea for me and has blossomed into the world’s top cruise line with a full fleet of ships,” said Richard Branson, founder of Virgin Group. “This ship is going to be brilliant in every possible way, and that includes the incredible new places we can travel to. Alaska, L.A., New York — here we come!” (The ship will have four homeports: New York City, Los Angeles, Seattle and Miami).
The world has been waiting for us to announce Brilliant Lady’s debut, and she’s almost here.
Described by Virgin as the final vessel in its current fleet of “Lady Ships,” Brilliant Lady will repeat the three previous ships’ interior spaces, wellness offerings (like a yoga perch and mermaid-inspired spa) and red hammocks on stateroom balconies, as well as offering more than 20 eateries, from traditional Korean BBQ to elevated Mexican food.
And, it will all be populated by the ship’s “Happenings Cast” instead of a singular cruise director.
Expected to be somewhat different, though, will be what the line calls an “adapted frame” which allows Brilliant Lady “to sail through the Panama Canal and to navigate rugged new landscapes including the vast glaciers and fjords of Alaska,” according to the brand.
“We’re fortunate to see some of the highest repeat rates in the industry, proving that our Sailors truly fall in love with the onboard experience and understand the intrinsic value we offer,” said Nirmal Saverimuttu, CEO of Virgin Voyages. “They know that stepping onboard a Virgin vessel means eating Michelin-inspired foods at no extra cost; awakening the senses during a complimentary morning yoga class; [and] walking away fulfilled without feeling nickeled and dimed. We’ll always challenge ourselves to keep things fresh and exciting, and that starts with expanding into extraordinary new destinations, while simultaneously inviting new artists, chefs, and musicians to enhance that quintessential Virgin vibe.”
Ship Design
Like Virgin’s three preceding ships, Brilliant Lady’s bow will be adorned with a new mermaid icon, this time designed by Toronto-based illustrator Janice Sung and inspired by “historic Renaissance paintings, as well as traditional Japanese and Chinese art, fashion and beauty,” according to a press release.
New Dining and Entertainment
Virgin also promises fresh dining and entertainment offerings, which will be announced at a later date.
2025 and 2026 Itineraries
“The world has been waiting for us to announce Brilliant Lady’s debut, and she’s almost here,” Saverimuttu said. “At Virgin Voyages, we’re constantly innovating and looking for opportunities to provide even better value for our Sailors with greater choice. Virgin fans have been asking for years if we’d consider sailing from places like New York, Los Angeles or Alaska, so it's wonderful to give our Sailors and First Mates [travel advisors] what they wanted."

The executive continued to specify North American itineraries that will be anywhere from five to 14 nights long.
Starting in September 2025, Brilliant Lady will depart on five sailings from New York City, ranging from five to 13 nights. Destinations will include Bermuda, plus the Canada/New England ports of Maine, Charleston, Boston, Halifax and New Brunswick.
From Miami, between October 2025 and April 2026, the ship will embark on 17 voyages for a winter season in the Caribbean, encompassing the southerly ABC islands (Aruba, Bonaire & Curacao), in addition to Turks & Caicos, Antigua and Grand Cayman, plus Ocho Rios, Jamaica.
Then on March 21, 2026, the ship will make a 16-night Panama Canal crossing from Miami to Los Angeles, visiting Costa Rica, Antigua and Los Cabos in between.
By the time the ship makes its way to L.A., a quartet of five- to eight-night journeys will await travelers heading to Baja California and Puerto Vallarta, as well as San Diego, Santa Barbara and Catalina Island.
By May and through September 2026, the ship will depart from Seattle on a yet-to-be-specified series of summer itineraries, but they will feature Alaska in some form.
“As the fourth and final ship in our fleet for now, Brilliant Lady will not disappoint,” Saverimuttu said.
